AI assistants agreed on the same top recommendation in 16% of 7,197 comparable traveler questions, as of October 1, 2026.
Quorum-tolerant measure — a question counts once at least 3 of 3 assistants gave a clear top pick, across 124 destinations. Full breakdown.
80.2% of places AI recommends are confirmed still open as of our latest check.
Among the ~16,271 places observed often enough to check consistently (10+ independent observations), 80% are referred to by more than one name across AI answers.
Scoped to places with enough observations to check consistently — not the full 113,642-place network. How we track this.
AI travel advice is overwhelmingly positive — under 3.1 in 1,000 statements about a place are negative.
AI continues to recommend 1,006 permanently closed and 266 temporarily closed businesses. Full report.

What's changing
Naming
Among the places TakeScout has observed enough to check consistently — 16,271 of the full 113,642-place network — 80% are called more than one thing across different AI answers. This reflects places we've observed often enough to check, not the whole network; places with only a handful of observations aren't included because there isn't enough signal yet to tell a real naming inconsistency from a one-off phrasing.
Sentiment
95% of the statements AI assistants make about a place are positive, and well under 1% are negative. AI travel advice essentially doesn't voice criticism — a place with real, well-known drawbacks still gets described the same way as one without.

tripadvisor.com leads every other site AI's search draws on for travel answers, at 11.3% of citations. This is based on Perplexity citations only — currently the only assistant that exposes its sources to us — over the last 90 days of data.
