The websites Perplexity's search leans on for travel
Which domains show up when Perplexity runs a live web search to answer questions about where to go, eat and stay.
Across the last 90 days, Perplexity's search pulled 65,842 web results from 9,584 domains while answering TakeScout's tracked travel questions. The most frequent is tripadvisor.com (7,313 results across 69 destinations), followed by nps.gov and reddit.com.
Ranked by how many times each domain appeared in Perplexity's search_results for a tracked
question, over the last 90 days (through Sep 1, 2026). ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini
aren't grounded in TakeScout's tracking yet, so this is Perplexity only. How we track this.

Why this is useful
When someone asks Perplexity where to eat in a city, its answer is built from whatever its live search surfaces for that query — effectively an AI-era search results page for travel intent. For a destination marketing team, that's a direct read on which publications, listing sites and blogs are shaping how AI describes their destination, and where a placement or a correction actually moves the needle.
What it is and isn't
These are the pages Perplexity's search retrieved, not the ones it explicitly cited for a specific recommendation — Perplexity's travel answers rarely footnote individual claims. And it's one assistant: the other three don't run a grounded search in TakeScout's pipeline yet, so this isn't a picture of "what all AI trusts."
