TakeScout ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our website.

  • Research feedback (optional): Some research pages invite you to tell us what brought you here and what you'd like to know about AI travel recommendations. We store the option you pick, any question you type, and the page you were on. We don't ask for your name, and we don't store your IP address with it.
  • Research updates (optional): If you give your email address and tick the box to receive occasional TakeScout research updates, we store your email together with a record of that consent: when you gave it, the exact wording you agreed to, and the page you were on. We never add you to this list without that box being ticked.
  • Usage data: Log data such as pages visited, referrers, approximate location (country/region), device type, and general usage patterns. We use this to operate, maintain, and improve the site.

Public content about destinations and businesses

As part of our service, TakeScout collects and analyzes AI assistant responses to travel-related questions, which may reference publicly known businesses, destinations, and attractions. This is not personal data about individuals — it is information about places and businesses, generated by AI assistants in response to our questions.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the website
  • Respond to inquiries and review research feedback, to decide what to measure and publish next
  • Send updates you've asked to receive (for example, when your destination is added, or research updates you opted in to)
  • Monitor usage, ensure security, and prevent abuse

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:

  • Service providers: Trusted third parties who help us run the site (for example, hosting, analytics, and email delivery providers). They are only allowed to use your data as needed to provide services to us.
  • Legal authorities: If required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

4. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. However, no system is 100% secure.

9. Cookies & Analytics

For website analytics, we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service hosted in the European Union. Plausible does not use cookies or other local storage, does not collect personal data such as full IP addresses or persistent identifiers, and does not track visitors across websites or over time. It only provides us with aggregated statistics about traffic and usage patterns (for example, page views, referrers, and approximate country).

If you close or finish the research feedback card, our site saves a small note in your browser's own storage (not a cookie) so the card doesn't keep reopening. It holds no identifier, is never sent to us or anyone else, and expires after 30 days. While you're partway through the card, your browser also keeps which step you reached for the rest of that browsing session (never what you typed).

Because our analytics setup does not rely on tracking cookies or personal data, you will not see a cookie consent banner when using TakeScout. If this changes in the future — for example, if we introduce cookies for other purposes — we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required by law.

10. Children's Privacy

TakeScout is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
